2024 Giving Challenge Results
The 2024 Giving Challenge took place April 9-10 from noon to noon. During that 24-hour period, an astounding $17,244,298 was raised by 53,305 donors for the benefit of 724 organizations. This was the highest number of nonprofit participants since the first Giving Challenge in 2012, which had 109 nonprofits (including the Humane Society of Sarasota County). Of the $17.2M total raised this year, The Patterson Foundation contributed $6,725,932 in matching funds. TPF matches unique donations between $25-$100 with NO CAP! What an amazing outpouring of generosity for organizations in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties!
HSSC raised $44,929 from 572 individual donors; $40,099 in matching funds from The Patterson Foundation; and an additional $1,850 in prizes. All together, that's $86,878 raised for HSSC's lifesaving mission! Every dollar raised will be used to help cats and dogs in need. The proceeds will go to the daily care of our shelter population (typically about 200 animals on any given day) and also to supporting pet owners through our pet pantry program, our affordable public Animal Clinic, and obedience courses. HSSC relies on community support, and our community stepped up in a big way during the Giving Challenge. Way to #BeTheOne

The Giving Challenge is an exciting 24-hour online giving event that connects about 700 nonprofit organizations with passionate donors and community members to support diverse causes and create enduring impact in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties.
Since 2012, the Giving Challenge has acted as a catalyst for connection and provided more than $75 million in unrestricted funding over eight challenges.
