Overview: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and directing volunteer services committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Humane Society of Sarasota County.
Animal Care & Enrichment Specialist I
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people; providing humane handling and care for all shelter animals and assuring that all animals’ nutrition, housing, and basic medical needs are met daily. This is an entry-level position and has a heavy focus on cleaning and care.
Animal Care & Enrichment Specialist II
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the Animal Care & Enrichment Specialist II's are responsible for working in areas requiring advanced training in PPE and cleaning protocols (i.e., isolation, quarantine). ACES II assists in the oversite of animal housing, report any issues/problems to their supervisor and supervise the ACES I employees. ACES II also works with potential adopters and volunteers as needed and actively promotes responsible pet ownership.
Animal Care & Enrichment Specialist III
Responsible for leading the team of Animal Care & Enrichment Specialists to ensure the safe, efficient, and humane treatment and care of all animals under the care of HSSC. This position has a heavy focus on animal behavior and enrichment, establishing plans for all at-risk animals to make them suitable for adoption, and ensuring the emotional and behavioral needs are met for all shelter animals. Involves working directly with the public to assist with pet retention or relinquishment.
