    Planned Giving

The Humane Society of Sarasota County depends on the support of caring people like you to continue our mission. Thanks to your generosity and support, HSSC has been able to save thousands of animals. Together, we are able to touch the lives of so many animals in need. Planned gifts make a huge impact on our ability to continue this lifesaving work for years to come. Let Your Love Be Your Legacy.

Many people contribute to nonprofit groups during their lifetime, but only a small number continue this support in their wills or estate plans. You can be one of those special people. You can become a member of the HSSC Legacy Society.

We know that animals matter to you. A lasting gift is a wonderful way to honor the people and animals that have made an impact on your life. Gifts large and small are important. Charitable giving is not only for the wealthy. It is for anyone who wants their legacy of love to live beyond their lifetime. You can make an important, lasting difference for animals.

    Your Legacy

Planned giving is a unique charitable tool that allows you to support the Humane Society of Sarasota County’s work for animals for many years to come while also fulfilling your own financial goals and objectives.

The HSSC Legacy Society was established to recognize and thank those who have included HSSC in their estate plans.

These are just some of the ways you can become a member of the HSSC Legacy Society:

    • Include HSSC in your will or revocable trust.
    • Name HSSC as a remainder beneficiary of a life-income arrangement, such as a charitable remainder trust.
    • Designate HSSC as the beneficiary of qualified retirement plan accounts, such as an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b).
    • Bequeath a U.S. Savings Bond.
    • Make a gift of life insurance.
    • Designate HSSC as a beneficiary of a bank account.

Some gifts are subject to prior review. Please consult the HSSC Gift Acceptance Policy (PDF) for more information. HSSC Tax ID: 59-6014943.

Through your estate plan, you can make provisions for your family and friends, as well as for animals. Some prefer their gift to be used where the need is the greatest, others designate their gift for specific programs or purposes. We are happy to work with your attorney or estate planner to draft language that ensures your wishes. Please contact Autumn Steiner at 941.955.4131 x121 or [email protected].

If you have already included the Humane Society of Sarasota County in a bequest or other planned gift, please let us know. Your willingness to be listed as a member of the HSSC Legacy Society encourages others to follow your example. We respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to inform us of your plans on a confidential basis, as it allows HSSC to plan for our future.
