More than 200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens... lots and lots of kittens... will be looking for homes during the Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event at Humane Society of Sarasota County.

FOR 3 DAYS ONLY, ADOPTION FEES WILL BE WAIVED FOR ALL AVAILABLE ANIMALS – as shelters across Florida work together to help find loving homes for 2,000 pets statewide in one weekend.

Last year, our community helped 122 pets find homes in just 3 days. This year – we're aiming even higher, and we'd love for you to be part of it.

Cats. Kittens. Dogs. Puppies. More than 200 pets are expected to be available throughout the weekend. Adoption fees will be waived for all animals. Browse available pets before your visit, and start picking your favorites now.

· All adoptions are first come, first served at the shelter.

· Pets can go home with you the same day.

· If you've seen a pet you're interested in online, don't wait. Available pets may be adopted quickly during the event.

· The best way to meet a pet is to visit us in person. During the event, our team will be assisting adopters throughout the shelter, so calls, emails, and social media messages about specific animals may not be answered as quickly as usual.

· Just browsing? That's okay too. We encourage you to come meet the animals and explore your options. There's no pressure to adopt.

· Please bring a current, valid photo ID if you plan to adopt.

· Adopters must be at least 18 years old.

· We recommend that all household members, including family members and roommates, meet the pet before adoption whenever possible.

· If you rent your home, please be familiar with any pet, breed, weight, or size restrictions that may apply where you live.

While adoption fees are waived, please note other fees may apply:

· Rabies licensing fees may still apply depending on your county of residence.

· Cats must go home in a carrier. Dogs must go home wearing a collar and leash.

· You're welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty of affordable options available for purchase.
