Classroom visits are one of the most popular ways to bring Humane Education to children. Our Humane Education specialists will build a custom presentation on the topic(s) you choose and present it to your class with the help of their animal assistants. These animals may be adoptable (and well-behaved!) shelter pets or certified pet therapy animals from our Pet Therapy Program, or both.
Common topics include: pet ownership, animal safety, pet overpopulation, and what shelters like HSSC do. Whether students learn kindness and safety toward pets and animals, or how overpopulation affects our community, these lessons are sure to make a positive impact.
Can’t have animals in your facility? We do allow field trips to HSSC. These visits include a tour of our shelter and a presentation on the topic(s) of your choosing. To plan your classroom visit or to schedule a field trip to HSSC, contact our Community Outreach Coordinator, Ginny Armington, at 941.955.4131 x114.
