Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day operations and success of the Humane Society of Sarasota County.  Volunteers help in countless ways, from socializing animals to providing public relations at fundraising events.

If you feel you have the time, passion and dedication to work with a great organization, we would love to hear from you!  Please contact Kerry Koppin, at kkoppin@hssc.org or 941.955-4131 x113.

Here are just a few of the incredible volunteer opportunities available at
The Humane Society of Sarasota County:

Mini Stay-Cation:
Take a shelter dog offsite for a day or even a weekend. Stay-cations are fun for the dog and also very helpful to HSSC because we gain valuable information on the overall temperament and behavior of the pet in different environments. Stay-Cation volunteers have the option to be trained as Adoption Ambassadors.

Excursion Buddies:
Take an adoptable dog out into the community for a few hours at a time. This is a great option for college students or others who are prohibited from having pets but still want to help shelter animals get adopted.

Feline Friend:
Provide enrichment along with companionship to shelter felines to maintain their health and well-being while in our care.

K-9 Companion:
Provide enrichment and training, along with companionship to our canines through mental and physical activities.

Help potential adopters find their perfect pet.

Fundraising & Community Outreach Events:
Represent and help raise much-needed funds for the shelter and assist with offsite adoption events as well as promotions and fundraisers such as our annual Paws on the Catwalk Luncheon or Hot Dogs & Cool Cats – Laugh Your Paws Off Gala.

Donation Bank Program:
Place and manage Donation Banks in local businesses to with help raise donations for our shelter pets.
Donation Bank locations.

Administrative Support:
Volunteers assist with day-to-day office tasks such as data entry, answering phones, front desk support and other necessary tasks.

Assist with the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of our buildings and grounds.
